Pressed for time? VIPSATV offers a 24-hour trial, no card needed.
To buy an IPTV subscription safely, take the free trial first, pay with a method you can dispute, and buy a single month before you commit to a longer plan. That order costs a little more at the start and protects you from most of the ways a purchase goes wrong. This guide covers what you are actually buying, the protection each payment method gives you, the real prices per term for the four services we compare, and the red flags worth walking away from.
If you only came here to buy IPTV quickly, the short answer is in the checklist below. The rest explains the reasoning.
How to buy an IPTV subscription safely: the short version
- Take the 24-hour free trial. All four services list one with no card. Our free trial guide explains how to plan the day.
- Read the plan page. Note the price for one month and for twelve, and how many connections the plan includes.
- Check the payment options. Prefer a credit card or PayPal. Avoid anything you could not dispute.
- Buy one month. It is the dearest per month and the cheapest way to change your mind.
- Keep the paperwork. Save the receipt, the confirmation email and your login details somewhere you can find them.
- Move to a longer plan once a paid month has suited you, and set a reminder before it renews.
What you are actually buying
An IPTV subscription is a login, not a box. The service gives you either an M3U URL or an Xtream Codes login (a server address, username and password), and you enter it in a player app on a device you already own. A MAG box works differently, pointing at a portal URL, but the idea is the same.
That has two consequences for buyers. First, you are not locked to one device: the same login can move from a Firestick to a Smart TV without paying again. Second, the thing you pay for is ongoing access, so what matters is the price per month, how many screens can watch at once, and what you can do if the access stops.
All four services list support for Firestick and Fire TV, Android, Apple TV, iOS, Smart TVs, MAG, PC and Mac, and recommend 25 Mbps for 4K. Each sells multi-connection plans and has an account page where the channel list can be trimmed. If the terms are new to you, our beginner’s guide to IPTV services explains them first.

Payment methods and the protection each carries
This is the one safety lever entirely in your hands. The table sets out the general position for UK buyers; which methods a given checkout offers is something to check on the day.
| Payment method | Route back if it goes wrong | Our view |
|---|---|---|
| Credit card | Chargeback through your card issuer | Strong choice |
| PayPal | PayPal’s own dispute process | Strong choice |
| Debit card | Chargeback through your bank | Good, keep the receipt |
| Apple Pay or Google Pay | Same as the card behind it | Fine |
| Bank transfer | Very hard to recover once sent | Avoid |
| Cryptocurrency | Irreversible | Avoid |
| Gift cards or voucher codes | Effectively cash | Avoid |
A note on credit cards: Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act only applies to purchases priced over £100, so it would cover only a couple of the 24-month plans below. For everything else, the route is the card scheme’s chargeback process, which your issuer runs. That is still far better than nothing.
The price you will actually pay
Each service lists one price per term on its plan page, with no separate introductory rate, so the figure you pay today is the figure you renew at. Per-month equivalents are in brackets.
| Service | 1 month | 3 months | 6 months | 12 months | 24 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIPSATV | £11.99 | £28.99 (£9.66) | £47.99 (£8.00) | £66.99 (£5.58) | £93.99 (£3.92) |
| RoomateTV | £13.99 | £31.99 (£10.66) | £44.99 (£7.50) | £62.99 (£5.25) | £89.99 (£3.75) |
| Clixwatch | £14.99 | £34.99 (£11.66) | £57.99 (£9.67) | £80.99 (£6.75) | £112.99 (£4.71) |
| Streamtion | £14.99 | £36.99 (£12.33) | £60.99 (£10.17) | £82.99 (£6.92) | £116.99 (£4.87) |
VIPSATV has the cheapest one and three-month prices. RoomateTV is the cheapest per month from six months onwards. Streamtion is the dearest on the longer terms.
Monthly, six months or a year: where the break-even sits
Divide the longer plan by the monthly price and you get the number of months at which it starts to pay off:
- VIPSATV: the twelve-month plan (£66.99) equals about 5.6 monthly payments. Six months (£47.99) costs 3p more than four monthly payments.
- RoomateTV: twelve months (£62.99) equals about 4.5 monthly payments; six months (£44.99) about 3.2.
- Clixwatch: twelve months (£80.99) equals about 5.4 monthly payments.
- Streamtion: twelve months (£82.99) equals about 5.5 monthly payments.
So if you expect to keep a service for six months or more, the annual plan is cheaper on every one of them. If you are unsure, pay monthly until you are not. Our monthly versus annual comparison runs these sums for every term, and the cheapest subscriptions guide sorts them by lowest outlay.
Red flags before you buy IPTV
None of these proves a seller is dishonest, but two or three together is a reason to keep your card in your pocket.
- Lifetime deals. One payment for permanent access against monthly running costs. Our lifetime deals guide sets out the maths.
- Crypto-only or gift-card-only checkouts. No dispute route at all.
- No free trial and no refund terms. You cannot check anything before paying.
- A price you only see after signing up. Or a monthly figure that turns out to be an annual rate divided by twelve.
- Countdown timers. A plan that is good value today is good value next week.
- Resellers in chat groups. Buy from the service’s own website, so the account, receipt and support route all belong to you.
- No contact route. No email, no ticket form, nothing. If the login stops, you are on your own.
Is it legal to buy an IPTV subscription in the UK?
IPTV is a way of delivering television over broadband, and the technology itself is neutral. Whether a particular subscription is lawful depends on the rights behind what it streams: whether the provider holds agreements with the owners of the content it carries.
We compare published prices, terms and device support. We cannot see or audit any provider’s agreements, including those of the four services on this page, so we make no claim about the position of any of them. If this matters to you, check it yourself before you pay: read what the provider says about its content, and look at official UK guidance on streaming and copyright.
Which one to start with
Short verdict: VIPSATV for the lowest cost to get started, RoomateTV if you already know you want six months or longer.
- VIPSATV: 57,000+ channels and 250,000+ on demand, the largest lists here, and £11.99 for a month. Its trial takes an email and no card, and its account page lets you name each connection, which helps on multi-screen plans. Worth a look first.
- RoomateTV: 45,000+ channels and 200,000+ on demand, with the lowest per-month cost at six, twelve and 24 months. Its trial starts from the checkout with no account step.
- Clixwatch: 39,000+ channels and 200,000+ on demand, £14.99 a month or £80.99 a year.
- Streamtion: 24,500+ channels and 130,000+ on demand, £14.99 a month or £82.99 a year. The narrowest list, fine if you only want a small selection.

After you have paid
Log in to the account page straight away. Trim the channel list to the countries and categories you watch, which makes the player faster to scroll. If you bought more than one connection, check each device logs in. Then put the renewal date in your calendar with a week’s notice.
For the setup itself, the IPTV Smarters guide walks through entering an Xtream Codes login, and the Firestick guide covers installing a player from unknown sources.
Verdict: trial first, pay by card or PayPal, buy one month, and only then commit to the plan length that suits your household.
Worth knowing
Why the payment method matters more than the checkout page
When you buy an IPTV subscription you are paying for access, not for a parcel you can send back. If anything goes wrong after payment, the method you paid with decides what you can do about it.
Cards and PayPal each have a dispute process run by someone other than the seller. Bank transfers, cryptocurrency and gift card codes do not; once the money has gone, recovering it depends entirely on the seller's goodwill.
So look at the payment options before you look at the price. A checkout that offers nothing you could ever dispute is telling you something, whatever the plan page says.
Working out the true cost of a plan
Divide the plan price by the number of months it covers. That single figure lets you compare a £11.99 month against a £66.99 year on equal terms: £11.99 against £5.58 a month in that case.
Then ask how long you will realistically keep it. A twelve-month plan only beats monthly if you would otherwise have paid for more than roughly four to six months, depending on the service. If you are unsure, the extra you pay for one month first is the price of keeping the choice open.
Because each service lists one price per term with no introductory rate, the renewal is the same sum again. Put a reminder in your calendar a week before it falls due and check the plan page then.

The one we would point most people to first. Cheapest on a rolling month, the largest listed line-up, and one price per term rather than a teaser rate.
Common questions
What is the safest way to buy an IPTV subscription?
Pay with a method that gives you a way back if something goes wrong. A credit card or PayPal is usually the strongest option, a debit card the next best. Bank transfer, cryptocurrency and gift cards are very hard to recover once sent. Keep the receipt and the confirmation email.
Should I buy a monthly or an annual plan?
Monthly first, then longer. The monthly price is the highest per month but keeps you free to leave. Once a paid month has gone the way the trial did, a twelve-month plan costs about half as much per month, or less, on every service listed here.
Is it legal to buy an IPTV subscription in the UK?
IPTV is only a delivery method, so the answer depends on the rights behind what a service streams. We cannot audit any provider's agreements and make no claim about any of them. Check the position yourself before you pay.
Will the price go up when I renew?
Each of the four services lists a single price per term on its plan page, with no separate introductory rate, so the listed price is the renewal price. Check the plan page again before each renewal in case it has changed.
Should I buy a lifetime IPTV subscription?
We would not. A service has running costs every month, so one payment for permanent access only works if the seller keeps trading indefinitely. A twelve-month plan limits what you can lose to one year's fee.
Do I need to buy a box to use IPTV?
Usually not. The login works in standard player apps on devices you may already own, including Firestick and Fire TV, Android, Apple TV, iOS, Smart TVs, PC and Mac. MAG boxes are supported too if you prefer dedicated hardware.
